Make Yourself Smarter - Is it Possible? by Ruby Cox

What exactly is intelligence?

What makes one person smarter than another?

Is a person who can easily make someone laugh smarter than someone who is good at math?

Are earnings directly related to how clever you are?

It is very easy to identify the cleverest person in any group of people. Cast your mind back to those school years and there would have been at least one Girl and Boy who were the acknowledged cast 'swots'.

It says something about our tinge of jealousy even at such a young age that these classmates were usually referred to in a some form of derogatory fashion. We were insulting them because, deep down, we wanted to be thought of as clever too.

This becomes more important to us as we get older and it will have an impact of your circle of friends and where you end up in life. Of course, we all those those among us who are very capable and bright, but have settled for a non-demanding form of employment, well within their capabilities. These people are more than happy to just drift though life, placing little importance on wealth and climbing the social ladder and as such, are content. But what about those at the other end of the scale?

There are far more people who when pressed, might admit they are unhappy with their God-given lot. But that's the clincher. Is what you are born with what you must settle for? Or can intelligence be improved, in the same way that exercise can improve the size and strength or our muscles.

Can genius be created?

Albert Einstein, perhaps a little modestly once said that it wasn't that he was necessarily smarter tan his fellow physicists, just that he stayed with the problems for longer.

So what do we know about being able to make ourselves smarter?

Well, it is readily accepted that the kingpin of intelligence, the memory, can be radically improved by using a few simple exercises. In addition, researchers are now establishing that people can make measurable improvements to their IQ's in a relatively short amount of time. There are even people who are on record as having raised their IQ by as much as forty points.

So how is this all done?

Well, it's not just about learning tricks to improve your memory. Diet plays a part, with certain groups of foods known to play an important part in Brain function. Techniques have been developed that teach us how to improve our level of understanding and speed up our learning and knowledge retention.

There are courses out there that can really make a difference to our measurable intelligence, and show that with can improve our minds just the same as we can transform our bodies.
